I had a taste for Chinese food but was stuck at home with COVID so my BFF offered to bring me some. Neither of us had been to this place before but it was on her route so she gave it a try. I had Pork Egg Foo Yung and Vegetarian Fried Rice. The EFY was piping hot and full of fresh ingredients, delivered separate from the tasty gravy so that it didn't get soggy. The SFR was good as well. I would definitely go back.
Good food, fast service. Local treasure they are open pretty late and gave me my fried chicken and rice quickly. Tasted good too!
Always hit and fresh. It is typical Chinese takeout. We like the crab Rangoon and boneless ribs!! Great combo specials as well
I've been going to Number One Taste for years, I go for the food, specific dishes that I like and taste good. Remember that not all Chinese dishes are alike. Chicken Chow Mein is a simple dish, its analogous to a bowls of Mac and Cheese or American Elbow Macaroni, I order it on occasion. I don't necessarily go there for the service although I got to knowing the lady who works there get special attention. I get good service and a smile; when its busy, I have too have to wait for them to pack large orders ahead of me. There are chairs to sit and wait. I don't talk to the cooks and let them do their job. Portions are large and they over fill the Styrofoam containers, no complaints there. They will pack duck sauce, plates, plastic forks/spoons and soups in a separate container. The lunch special comes with a small soup or a can of soda, a nice touch. Prices for the luncheon special are very reasonable for what you get (an entre, large portion of pork fried rice, an appetizer, soup or can soda)- enough to feed two. The also offer coupons - senior discount and larger order bonus add ones. The prices are very reasonable and portions large. Hot and Sour soup excellent and full of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc and flavor. Dishes are made to order with the exception of the pork fried rice but its made in small batches for the convenience . Order another meat fried rice if you want one made up fresh (but not for a combo plate). They serve NE style Chinese dishes as well as some Chinatown specials. They are not into dim sum appetizers, check out Joyful Garden in Watertown if you are into dim sum and banquet dishes (lobster, crab, fried fish, etc) and higher prices. I give Number One Taste 4 stars for NE Style Chinese Takeout, and 5 stars for prices and quantity/quality of servings and variety. I ignore the ambiance but I find the service good. You can't please everyone.
